Does anyone make a (class E-4) 4-6-4 with DCC and sound? I do not want the Dreyfuss or any other “streamlined” loco. If not, how about one that DCC and sound could be added?
Hi. I have a NYC 4-6-4 from BLI that I have ready to sell. It has a decoder in it and has lots of room for a nice big sound decoder and speaker. If you are interested drop me a conversation mail or pm or whatever it is called now and I can get you some pics of it.

Mike, the C&NW E-4 looks nothing like an NYC Hudson. Here’s a pic of an E-4: http://www.steamlocomotive.com/hudson/cnw4008.jpg . It also has 84" drivers vs. the J-1 (and J-3) diameter of 79". This is the closest NYC 4-6-4 in appearance to the E-4: http://members.pioneer.net/~fitzrr/5344cv.jpg
MTH did make an E-4 in 3 rail O some years ago. Maybe they’l do one in HO.

My bad, Sorry
Bruce, there’s an NPP brass one on EBay currently. Current bid is $110 with a couple of days to go. http://cgi.ebay.com/HO-BRASS-NICKEL-PLATE-C-NW-4-6-4-E-6-LOCO-TENDER-L-K-/380279706921
Note: I am not affiliated with the seller in any way.

Bruce.
To the best of my knowlege, there have been only two firms to offer the C&NW E-4 over the years, both in brass.
Nickel Plate Products imported 330 Kumata built streamlined 4-6-4s in 1975 and 1976. 150 of these models were factory painted. These models were built with 79" drivers instead of the correct 84" of the prototype. If this bothers you, Greenway Products of Pennsylvania offers replacement 82" Boxpok drivers on 3mm axles that could be fit to the Nickel Plate Products loco. That is IF the axle spacing will permit it.
In 1998 Challenger imported about 200 Samhongsa built E-4s in two versoins. Coal fired, and oil fired. These were far better detailed and more correct representations than the earlier versions from Nickel Plate. They are VERY nice, and VERY expensive.
Neither was factory equipped with DCC or sound, but an installation of both could be accomplished with a little effort.
Good luck in your search.

Note the OP said he DID NOT want a STREAMLINED version. Seems everyone is giving options to the streamlines engine.
Given that the only Hudsons the C&NW owned WERE streamlined, he would then be asking for something that never existed. If he wants a true C&NW Hudson, it’s an E-4 or nothing.
The Milwaukee, NYC, C&O, and ATSF were the only railroads that owned both conventional and streamlined Hudsons.
EDIT: Whoops, forgot about the CB&Q.
Well, actually, the Milwaukee didn’t own any Hudsons at all. They owned Baltics, but that’s a subject for another thread.

Thanks guys and especially Andre. I did not know that the E4s were streamlined. They were used exclusively for passenger service from Chicago and west. (C&NW) hence the larger drivers. I just can’t get a feel for streamlined steamers. I’ll pass on the hudsons.
Bruce, you just haven’t stared at photos of them long enough. [8-|] I didn’t like any of the streamlined engines at first, but some of them have begun to grow on me. I like the J Class 4-6-4 from the Norfolk & western, for example, and the fairings and skyline casing on the U-4a’s used by both the GTW and CN were rather sharp.
