The Historical soc. is trying to get this engine(C&O 2755, 2-8-4) on the hist. reg. They need to know when(date) the engine was given to the park/city/county of Logan WV and the date it was placed in the park. The engine is located in Chief Logan State Park in Logan WV. They need this info A.S.A.P. because the deadline is the 1st. of June. Even if you have partial info or can point us in the right direction , plese reply. Thanks in advance.
Im sorry i just saw this today (6/21/06) but if it helps the 2755 was placed there in March of 1961. Source: The Van Sweringen Berkshires by Eugene L. Huddleston.
Ofcourse the C&OHS knows probably down to the second it was placed there.
Sincerely

Not sure what “hist register” you’re referring to, but a historical register is about all that engine is suited for, considering its location (midway up an abandoned coal branch) and condition. I was able to get access inside the fence surrounding this loco about 20 or so years ago, due to my father working for the parks department in WV. To put it nicely, 2755 is trashed, unsuitable for anything but a cosmetic restoration, which would be pretty pointless unless WV put a roof over her head. Who knows, perhaps they have, but I wouldn’t bet on it.[V]
