C & O Caboose color

What color did C & O use for their red cabooses? I have several yellow cabooses that I would like to repaint.

The “closest” match for the red for C & O cabooses that I’ve found, would be equal parts of Floquil’s D & H Caboose Red and Signal Red. Now with the fact that Floquil paints not being produced anymore might pose a problem.

John,If you’re interested in a more prototypical C&O caboose then I suggest a flat red with a light “dusting” of grimy black on the roof for coal dust…
