Can anyone tell me if the C&O ran their GP7s short hood or long hood forward? Era is early-mid 1950s. Thanks.
The C&O designated the short hood end as the front for its GP7s and GP9s.
This was true even for the first order of GP7s (#5700-5719), which were purchased with Mars lights on each end. Both Mars lights were removed within a few years of delivery.
