To allrailfans out there. I thought that you would like to know that the above mentioned steam engine is mpving to a new home the week-end after next. it will be moving by road from Parker field to the Science museum of Virginia(the old Broad Street Station. the engine was put in its present location just before Christmas 1959. there are noplains at preasent to run it.
I always like to hear of another steam engine being preserved. It seems that there are an awful lot of old C&O K-naws, still extant. Do you know how many, and where? I know of at least 3. I’m sure there are more…
Thanks, Todd C.
I,also can think of about three K-4s still remaining. In the book C&O POWER published in 1965, there is alist in the back of the book that lists thirteen K-4s. Of those three were severaily damaged by vandals and therafter scrapped. that left atotal of ten. I dont know how many there are now, but if you would reply I can send you a copy of the list. thanks,Malcolm S
i know of a website that is a world database of all of the surviveing steam locomotives in the world it is www.steamlocomotive.info hope this helps with your sirch for the remaining k-4’s. big boy
Do I assume that your reference to Broad St Station means that the #2732 is in Richmond, VA? There used to be a Broad St Station in Philadelphia. Other than that hint, I have no idea where this loco is. Can you be specific for this Michigander?
