C630 project finally completed (pics)

Hi guys, I just finished work on the two C630’s I still have a couple of things to do on 2023. 2013 took a tumble off my layout on its first test run about 4.5’ high right on to the concrete floor, and with 2 massive lead weights inside all the parts went in every which way. It took me 3 days to find the bell, amazingly nothing broke you can see it here after the accident.

Well done! I like the Dofascos. Bowser is comming out with actual Dofascos so we dont need to use that absurd resin kit anymore.

Thats great news, do you know when thats gona happen?

!!! REALLY???

Love those C630’s!

Phil

Its been a rumor for a long time now. Aparently, they are comming out with a loco that uses the Dofasco trucks…dunno which one though.

For my CpR C630, I actually use the Min By Eric sideframes.

Nice work, Artur, and nice to see that you did one in my all-time favourite modern paint scheme for any railroad. Here’s a sister to your models’ prototypes:

Great looking locomotives[bow]

I gotta admit, i have a soft spot for diesels. Good lookin critters there!

Nice.

What kits are the VIA A/B/A units in the background?

Great Work!

Shot in the dark…Protos?

I just read some stuff on Train Orders about this. They will be making C636s, including Hi-Ad truck versions.

And, Mr. English said that they WILL be making the Dofascos for a future Canadian version.

YES!!!

Phil

The VIA A/B/A units are Proto FPA4. and Rapido cars.

Any mention when that will happen, I wouldin’t mind making my units 12 wheel power.

Those are nice looking diesels, but I believe that they’re FA/FB2s, probably as close as you’ll see to a commercially available plastic FPA/FPB4.

I modified a couple of the old Model Power FA/FB units (some say they were a cross between a 1 and a 2) to more closely ressemble the prototype FPA/FPB4s, then lettered them for my own road, using a derivative of the CNR freight paint scheme. The steam generator details are incorrect, but everything else is fairly acceptable, as they’re detailed for my own road, not CN or VIA.:

Here’s a couple of the prototypes:

Well, they were talking about it last July. From what they were saying, it will probably be about a year until a official announcement of the product.

Bowser has released the C628 in the Executive Line…

Not a Candian modeler but man nice job! Mike

Yes you are right they are FPA2’s, I tried to make them as close to FPA4’s as possible. yours look really good, are the gas tanks custom made?

Thanks Artur. Yes, the fuel tanks were built-up from styrene. I also re-arranged some of the body panels, and sliced off the rear of the roof, then rotated it to get the fan in the proper place. Here’s some pre-paint photos:

Those MLW’s are nicely done. Gives me the urge to do up a CP version. Thanks for sharing. And same with the FPA4’s, very well done.
