There are two caps on my tube of water thin ACC (CA) glue. One large cap opens the entire bottle and the small cap is screwed to that. I can get the large one off but the small, pointed one is glued solid. What can I do to get it off or at least get a small amount to use. A toothpick isn’t long enough to reach the remaining glue in the opened bottle.[8]
use a wire.
Try nail polish remover.
I use a pin vise bit with a .025 drill bit.
Thanks for the replys but how do I get the cap off? The nail polish remover sounds good and I will try it ( or laquer thinner).
I usually take a pair of pliers and squeeze around the base of the cap when it’s stuck. This cracks the hardened glue and releases it.
I quit using the little cap. I use these now.

The glue plugs the end to seal it. Next time you need the glue, just trim the end of the tip back a quarter inch or so, and it’s clear.
You could also use these.

I guess I can’t post the pics here.
That works sometimes, but I usually end up tearing the whole top off it. [:-^]

Use pliers to squeeze the cap and crack the glue then use a screwdriver to pry up the cap.
I never use CA directly from the container, for one, the aforementioned problem and secondly, it’s difficult to control the amount applied. I use small plastic cups, (from CrystalLite lemonade or condiment cups from Mickey Ds) to pour a few drops into, then use a wire mounted in a piece of dowel to dip and apply, no mess no fuss. When the bottle closes up I just keep cutting it back to clear, pour a few drops, etc.
I use a small drill bit IN A PIN VISE to unclog the spout. I always but the $.99 tubes at the drugstore that are available in different viscocities as opposed to the more costly “hobby shop” variety. It works just as good with very little waste.
I agree, I found that for some reason the CA keeps and remains completely workable when placed in or on plastic. I know there’s plenty of fancy applicators, but my preference for application is still a wire or toothpick.
The only time I’ll use it directly from the bottle is when doing some large repair that has to be done quickly. This is rarely for any modeling purpose though.
I also found that after the CA starts to accumulate around the top and the seal may be affected, I will drape a small piece of plastic then set the cap. Usually by this time the CA is almost gone or has started to harden and it’s time for a new bottle.
