Has anyone built a cable stayed bridge for their layout? See bottom diagram below.
If so I sure would like to see a photo. [:D]

Hello Buckeye! The only Bridge that I can think of that I’ve seen pictures of is Seth Giam’s Suspension Bridge at the Train Barn in Kalamazoo,Mi., Are you going to build a Cable-Stayed Bridge for your layout? If so, then that would be a neat idea & something to see. If I remember correctly Seth built his Bridge exactly as a real life version would be built to support the Tracks & the weight of the Bridge as well.Take Care.
Keith, you know darn well I don’t know anything about bridges! [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
Kidding aside, I have some rudimentary sketches and some ideas for materials. I might only have a single tower with double pylons, however depending on the clearances; I could use the single pylon.
BTW, one of the problems with a suspension or cable stayed is the wind. Many of you have heard of Galloping Girtie where the wind tore the bridge apart. Researchers have been looking at placing computer-controlled ailerons on the deck to counteract the winds.
There is that one in Brooklyn. That ones only been there what over a 100 years or so. It has no wind breakage problems as far as I know(unlike people who reach that age). Trolleys used to run on it. I will sell it to you if you want.
