I am shopping around for HO GN brass locomotives to add to my roster. I have found a few advertised by Caboose Hobbies in Denver that I was interested in.
I used their contact us, and have left e-mails on a couple of these engines and have yet to receive any answers to those e-mails. This has been going on for over two month at least.
I wonder if Caboose Hobbies ever answers e-mails?
I have found 4 locomotives so far at other dealers that I have since purchased. I guess Caboose Hobbies must be very busy lately does not need any additional business.
There are several stores called “Caboose Hobbies”. You went to a website… Was it really the one that you wanted?
Here at the Abbey this time of year we get many inquires about our fruitcake… unfortunately, that is the Tappist Abbey in Missouri, not us, the Benedictine Abbey in North Dakota. We are assumptionabbey.com; they are assumptionabbey.org.
BTW: I set up our website first and did not also buy up the .org domain since I knew there were other Assumption Abbeys out there.
Anyway, you did not want a fruitcake, you wanted a brass locomotive. LIONS do not have any of those.
I used to deal with a fellow named Jeff Frey at Caboose Hobbies years ago when selling my brass CZ cars on consignment. It probably helps to have a direct contact rather than use a generic mailbox however.
I’ve used Caboose Hobbies (Denver) many times with great success. And yes, I have contacted them via email and they got back to me within two days both times. Of course that was a year or so ago.
My dealings with Cabosse hobbies with brass is to call Don or one of the other guys working in the brass section. I do use email for reservations of plastic items which seems to work very well. Recently, I emailed them and received a replay within a day or so.
I’ll second CZ’s suggestion. Don at Caboose Hobbies is a great guy to talk to. I’ve gotten about 50% of my used Rio Grande brass from them, and he’s always there to answer any questions you might have.
Good place to shop. I’m only sorry I live about 1500 miles from there, otherwise I’d probably be there every weekend, LOL!
I do a lot of e-ordering with them, I can’t say enough good things about their service, prices, prompt shipping, etc. I learned early on that calling is better than e-mailing. I once placed 2 orders on a Sunday afternoon back to back and I noticed there was a difference of 17 order #'s between them!!! What I’m trying to say is they do a HUGE volume and probably can’t physically respond to every e-mail.
You might want to call the Train Shop in Santa Clara Ca. They had a number of very nice GN brass steam in stock. They are the best MRR shop in the SF bay area.
While the Train Shop is most excellent, I feel that Just Trains in Concord is the best. In the Bay Area. But then, that may mean we have an embarrassment of riches compared to the many places that don’t have any.
I’ve dealt with Caboose Hobbies in Denver several times. I agree with most of the previous: call them up. That worked much better for me than the online stuff.
