What are opinions of these ground throws?
Can anyone advise as to which brands of turnouts the throws # 202s (with a travel of .190") and # 218s (with a travel of .165") are used?
Any help will be appreciated.

I use them in N scale and like them a lot. As I think back, I’ve never heard too much negative about them from anyone.
Sorry, can’t help with details of which HO model to use.

They work very well. The only negative I see with them is that they are out of scale but for me, that is not a big deal. That’s not something anyone is going to notice unless they are looking for it. I use mine with Atlas turnouts.
I love them, and use them on my O gauge layout. As for which ones to choose, I’m not sure, but I would think the longer throw would be for Atlas, and the shorter for Peco and Shinohara. Some of the models are sprung, giving you a nice “fudge factor”.
The tall stands are really cool, wi***hey came in O.
Tip for the low stands: it is a good idea to put in a stop so the handle can’t be pushed over too far, It reaches it’s maximum throw when the handle is horizontal. Allowing them it to be pushed beyond that point just spreads out the housing, and can shorten the throw’s life. What I did, was install a spike on each side, which sticks up and forms a limit for the handle. It also makes it easier to get a hold of when it isn’t pushed all the way down.
I also use mine with atlas turnouts. No problems. If they were to scale you probably woud not be able to operate them.

I use a few in the yard. They work well and seem reliable. I will agree with BB4005 on the spring loaded versus the non-sprung. It does make it a lttle easier to get them aligned properly. As far as the amount of travel needed, it will depend on the scale tou are using.
