Years ago, there was an article in Trains about different passenger experiences, such as private cars that could be rented. I’ve since lost the article, but I haven’t forgotten about one of these excursions.
The article described renting a caboose. It would be attached to a passenger train, and would be set on a spur in a Canadian national park. The caboose used LP gas to provide heat, cooking, and a refrigerator. The nearby rangers would hang out with you as much or as little as you desired. You could fish, hike, canoe, or just hang out.
I do not recall the name of this service, and recent google searches haven’t borne fruit. Does anyone recall this? Is it still offered?
