Caboose N scale switches on HO layout

Greetings! I know this has been discussed before because I remember seeing it on the forum but I cant for the life of me find it anywhere on the website. I have decided to use N scale caboose ind. switches on my HO layout to make it look a little more to scale. I have atlas switches and when I installed the switches I notices that the switch travel is just a hair to short to marry the points to the stock rail on the switch. does anyone know the easiest way to fix this problem? Thanks for everyone’s help!!!

If you have the spring-loaded version, considering how they’re made I don’t think there’s any way to make one throw for a longer distance. You’ll probably have to use an HO scale ground throw.

I have both on my N scale layout and they seem to be the same size.

Only the throw length seems to be different.

The HO ones do not work as well as the N scale ones for N scale as the throw length is longer for HO since the track is father apart.

There’s a way to make them work but not directly. You need to increase the throw. So you would need to add a throw bar and a pivot. The sides of the pivot need to be different sizes, the longer side creating a longer throw.

Worth the effort?

What you are describing is a Bellcrank.

Not worth the effort! You can hide them but again, not worth the effort! There are scale ones out there, much more expencive and again a lot are just not as reliable except for old Kemtron or PBL brass ones but they are of only one type a harp!

I have been using the n scale ground throws on my Ho scale layout for years and don’t have any problem

with them not moving the points far enough. The n scale ones I use are the206s One side of the throwbar is longer than the other. the turnouts are atlas and shinohora.
