Caboose springs

Does anyone know of a source of HO scale leaf springs that will fit Kadee trucks? I know Walthers used to produce them many years ago. I hope all you modellers out there don’t just accept coil springs in your cabooses. I also know that there are several caboose trucks available in plastic but I prefer sprung trucks under my rolling stock.

Detail Associates makes some, but they are non functional.

indeed, I don’t think there are functional HO scale leaf springs. But, then again, coiled spring trucks in HO aren’t functional either–they’re merely decorative.

Caboose Springs sounds like the name of a town on a layout, it should have a caboose displayed on a lawn or in a park near the tracks.

Detail part trucks - just give me the caboose and trucks that look right - leaf springs

I used to use the Walthers caboose springs. Bascially, they were small v-shapped pieces of metal with holes punched into each end of the “v”. They were very tempermental, the springs weren’t really soft enough to absorb shock and some weren’t bent squarely, so they didn’t fit right in the trucks I used. And they didn’t look all that great either.

i think Eastern Car Works also makes non functional leaf springs for their caboose truck.
I installed the Walthers springs on one car. It is a neat idea but I agree with Dan/AltonFan – they do not look real enough to make the effort worth while
For that matter “real” springs do not look all that much like prototype springs.
