Cactus needles, Good idea???

I was thinking the other day about using cactus needles on the layout, I thought they might make good wood fence post as they are already the right color, are very strong long and skinny and very sharp, kind of like a sewing needle. I would think they would work real well for those of you that use foam. The needles could simply be stuck into the foam and the fence wire attached. I am sure there are several other uses for them, as in using them for sign post along the roadway etc… What are your opinions on this, could they be used anywhere on the layout? Is this a good idea or am I coloring outside the lines? Just something I happen to think of and thought I would ask around for other opinions. Mike

There are no rules in model railroading.

(Unless you count the flack you get here for running an Pennsy cabin without the radio antennas.)

I think it’s a great idea!

Only problem is, there aren’t any cactuses in MA![;)]

Well, that might just work. I have a nearly unlimited supply, but I don’t think I’ll be using them. The pain involved in the harvest would counter the benefits, for me. I find that they seem to get stuck in almost everything, socks, shoes, fingers, legs, pretty much anything else!

I was thinking at first that they might not hold up real well, but the more I think about it the less worried I am.
