CAL Z CANCELLATIONS

Anyone know why CAL Z has been cancelled since the demolition crane collision until Wedensday Aug 31st?

I don’t know the answer to your question, but I noticed in the days before the Benkelman, NE derailment that the CZ had been running late for several days in a row and this was in places east of Denver (on the BNSF), and in both directions. For example, the westbound train was often 2 to 3 hours behind schedule at Osceola, Iowa, and this is a stop that is only 6 hours into it’s 2 day run. And one day the WB was nearly 12 hours late into Denver, which is normally 18 hours into the run.Eastbounds were 5 to 7 hours down,IIRC. I think they just had too many operational issues to deal with, so they said “everybody just take a break and let’s re-group”. This is just my opinion, though. Lots more to the real story, I’m sure, but we’ll probably never know.

One can quickly and easily get the latest information on Amtrak service alerts by logging onto its website (www.amtrak.com) and clicking on the “Inside Amtrak” icon, then clicking on “Service Alerts and Notices.” At the present moment, there are delays associated with UP MOW at Glenwood Springs CO and flooding at Omaha NE, said delays to be through tomorrow (August 31st).

Amtrak agent will not answer question when CAL Z will run again. Seats are blocked out thru originations of Sept 3rd. Anyone have any more info?
