California Cancer?

[i]The Man Show set up a booth in a crowded mall and asked women to sign a petition to stop women’s suffrage! They said about 70% of the women signed it saying they had “suffraged” long enough!! One woman stood there screaming at them trying to explain what it was they were signing but it didn’t phase them at all. Just kept signing their rights away!

There’s an old story about PT Barnum. Seems he put up a sign at one of his shows that said “This Way To The Egress” and caught a considerable number of people who had paid good money to see the egress and other attractions only to find that egress is just another word for “exit”.

I also was at the layout of a guy who put up a sign that said “Danger. These are electric trains and they take 12,000 millivolts to operate”. Apparently, it did a good job keeping people’s cotton-picking hands away from the layout.

WARNING!

Watch dog groups can be hazardous to your mental health.Recent test has shown watch dog groups can cause unneeded stress and anxiety in some people…

I remember this incident - I seem to recall that it took place in Miami in the mid-60s and involved The Declaration of Independence. Whatever, your point about stupidity knowing no limits is well taken!

I prefer club soda myself but I have been known upon occasion to add a dash of DHMO to my Chivas Regal!

Andre, do you really expect our high school students to actually take courses of some kind. You know they only go there to meet, greet, party and go to the mall. The adults ain’t much better either. Just watch an episode of the Tonight Show when Jay Leno does his “Jay walking” segment. Its truly frightening. Rick M

[(-D]And a lot of those people Jay interviews are college students!

Oh you guys outside the Golden State have no idea what we get to deal with…[sigh]

Maybe someone should stick a label on our Governator that smoking big stogies can cause cancer also…[D)]

Common sense tells me that without a stupid label, now they want to post calorie and nutrition content labels at fast food restuarants…smart, cant wait to see the jaws drop when they read the labels on the calorie/fat megabomb burgers at Burger Kill.[(-D]

I’m thinking this entire thread is a carcinogen. [;)]

The stupidest MSDS I’ve seen was for dihydrogen monoxide. Go figure, we need a safety sheet to handle water.

(actually, it probably isn’t for “water”. Water is not pure H2O, but rather has all sorts of impurities. It’s still good for a laugh though…)

Those of us who work on the engineering side of U.P. know what you guys deal with. I remember we were working in Illinois and I had to sign off on the Calif. environmental stuff so I could be disciplined by the company and the state if we went to Calif. and I improperly disposed of a greasy rag. Also, all of our machines have stickers on them to remind us that Calif. considers the emissions a cause of cancer. Our yearly rules testing even has a special California section. Oh, we know… I’m can’t begin to describe how happy I am that I chose to move from California in 1987. I am truly embarrassed by my native state. I would have thought that one bad actor as a govenor would have been enough. Boy, was I ever wrong.

I’m as disgusted as you are by some of California’s weird gambits in environmental laws. But if you want someone to blame, why start with the actor/governors? I recall Ronald Reagan long being villified by the radical enviros.

Don’t blame him for the damage done by Tom Hayden and his loopy friends.

Only in California.
