Just another tax he says. Well, gas pumps read 4.09-4.25 for unleaded here in Los Angeles (with no Iraq bounce yet) How much do you pay where you are at?
I’m sure the railroads saw to it that the fee structure was written in such a way that the money was restricted to spill activities. Tankers were not covered by the California fee since their spill oversight is handled by the Coast Guard, not a state agency.
California has a population of just over 38 million. The first year revenue is estimated at $11 million. The cost per person is therefore just short of $0.29 per person if all the oil transported is consumed in the state. Frankly, loose change.
The oil shippers have to pay the fee and get it back from the ultimate consumers so the people who create the risk have to pay for it. To my way of thinking it’s a good plan.
Are they juat as useful as harbor pilots? That ran into the Bay Bridge ?
bs. live in ca. fees. fees and more fees…this state really stinks. should start charging and illegal alien fee too. they are riding freight trains now
Don’t you just love how governments impose fees and try to disguise them as safety precautions?

California…listen up. THE OIL IS FOR YOU!!! it wouldnt be sent your way if you didnt guzzle it like drunken sailors on leave. I think the RR’s amd Trucking Companies should unite…and let Cali’s crops rot into the soil they came from.
