California “Skunk Train” to resume regular service Saturday
Excellent news. I recall a fine trip along the line back in the early 1960’s. I would like to see it again. Congrats for bringing the line back up to standard.
See “The friendly train called ‘Skunk’” in National Geographic, May 1959–a neat article.
It’s another one of California’s golden treasures I want to experience.
Many years ago, I was in Fort Brag to ride the “Skunk” steamer. The steamer only pulled the first train daily, so my wife and I rode behind a “stink pot”. About 5 minutes into the ride I did not care what was up front. The Trees are awesome.
Several years ago my wife and I rode the Skunk train. It was one of the most scenic, interesting, and downright enjoyable train rides that I have ever been on…totally unexpected. We stayed in Fort Bragg and had a great overnight on our way up the coast. I would like to see Skunk train promote itself more. It’s a terrific enterprise!
