Who wrote this headline? They missed April 1st by one week.
And this is great advertising for Amtrak. There is no such thing as bad publicity.

I got a good laugh out of this. This isn’t the first time a train was mooned. I recall riding on the Royal Hudson from Squamish to North Vancouver in 1988, and some boaters in the Howe Sound mooned us.
My advice to Laguna Niguel is Lighten Up.
Actually, there is an event every year where people moon the trains and the Passengers moon back.
In 1 episode of that show about the 3 gals that live with Hugh Heffner, 2 of the gals mooned an Amtrak train as it passed by.
Just say no to crack.
That one cracks me up!

If they have valid concerns about safety, sanitation, and crowd control, I can see it. If it’s just the bare behinds, so what? Look at all the people who are visiting and spending money!
Perhaps I’m just an old fuddy-duddy, but I just cannot feature either the viewing of or the partaking in such an activity.
No wonder aliens haven’t landed on Earth–they’re looking for intelligent life…
“Beam me up, Scotty - there’s no intelligent life down here.”

Generally yes but not the one of Hef’s ladies!
There’s a photo on this site of a BNSF freight crew responding in kind in the front window of their locomotive - with number clearly visible and a date in the caption, which also says that a conductor “Steroid” is visible in the middle. So - anybody know what the train crews think of all this ?
The mooning website said the trains slow down - gotta believe the crews are at least somewhat in on the gag. I’d presume the only other reason they would slow down would be because of the crowds and the fear of hitting someone.
Can’t say as I’d partake in the activity from either angle, either. But as long as nobody gets hurt, what the heck? And it’s not like nobody knows about it, so if you are on the train as a regular passenger and don’t care to see it, don’t look!
![:)]![:)]![:)]![:)]First time I have heard of this tradition…MOON ON![:)]
The problem last year, as I understand it, was that there was a lot more than the mooning going on, including drunkenness, slightly more exposure than just moons, and other behavior best left indoors. The police had to shut it down. I don’t know what the answer is (some have suggested banning alcohol–kind of ironic since the whole “festival” originated at a bar). The south side of Chicago has lost its St. Patrick’s Day parade after this past year for the very same reasons. And, Larry, the loss of revenue is a concern that has been mentioned.
