BNSFrailfan.
Not the best looking thing that ever came out of EMD is it
Nothing could ever touch an EMD SD70MAC anyday!
BNSFrailfan.
…you know when CP was running the White demonstrator units, I didn’t like the look of them at all, but I think that loco looks pretty good in yellow.
I like the way this unit looks in Union Pacific colors. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I still think they look like a someone hacked up a GE and put back together with a couple of EMD parts… [:D]
Looks long - is it longer than an SD70MAC?
Looks decent in UP colors. Not as much of a stomach ache as the BNSF swoop!
Mook
Anything in UPRR armour yellow is OK with me. Cannot wait to see them live & in person on my upcoming rail fan trips in Nev/Wy/Ut/Ca [:)]
I still think they look pretty cool. Very bulldoggish. If nothing else, it will vary things a bit, and end the monotony of SOOOOOOOO many GE’s that all look the same. Now if we can convince the UP to keep some of their locos clean, it’ll be a lot of fun railfanning again.
I think some months ago Trains magazine reported that cleaning loco’s & repainting the former roads loco’s is not a hi priority anymore which is why you see former roads with the bandaids on them. [:)]
“Band-aids” is a good description there, spbed. Give me the paint, and I’d be happy to do the job for them as a public service. It’s bad enough seeing all these nondescript leased engines blanding up the photo opportunities, let alone all the hand-me-down rustbuckets that come along as well. Can you imagine coming out of your favorite fast food restaurant with a plain brown bag? Give me logos or give me (no, it’s not that serious of an issue).
All things considered, they don’t look all that bad. I never thought I would say this, but I am starting to like UP units when they are clean better than I like BNSF units.
Yawn…This is why I’m a steam fan …or at least an early diesel fan…[zzz]
Looks just like every other engine out there…God, I miss F and E’s and PA’s and Sharknoses…[sigh]
I actually like it.
Boy what I wouldn’t give to see a Baldwin Sharknose in real life…
I love it…anything in Armor Yellow looks good to me (even GE’s).
I had one of the CSX units in a consist a while back. The best thing about them is that they moved to D/B all the way to the rear of the unit. Now we won’t have that sceamin’ in our ears and our brains being sucked out through our ears when we go out the door to fix a trailing unit.
Is it dirty? No.
Is it beaten up? No
Is it rusting? No
So its not nice locomotive
I had one of those too. It was very noisy and had much vibration in the cab. There was no dimmer for the guage lights and no place for a trash bag. The gauges are parallel with the side of the cab making them hard to read. Several steps backwards from the SD70AC in my opinion.
Steam is very boring.
