calling all Union pacific fans

i thought in this thread all union pacific. Anyone who like Union pacific start a chat about union pacific. Talk about UP. Post UP pics watever. UP all the way!!!

I can’t wait. I don’t care if will go on 18’s turns or not i will just put it in a air tight chamber, or freeze it. Just kidding you think it will do 18 radii? How do you think it will look/

Just got a KATO Union Pacific SD90/43MAC for $75.00.

Cool i reserved my HO m-10000

If you’re a Union Pacific nut like you say you are, then you’d love working where I do… I have a UP track about 300 yards away from my office window, and about every thirty minutes or so a train comes by headed west. Most of the time they’re made up of at least three locos and about sixty cars - usually covered hoppers and tankers, but once in a while it’ll be a mixed freighter. Then just down the street, there’s a cross track where at least one long train of open hoppers delivers raw materials to a cement plant. I get a kick out of watching it hold up traffic, and have actually seen frustrated drivers back into each other trying to turn around to see if they can find another route around it…

Yes i am a UP nut like i say i am. My father works for UP. My grampa worked for them. And i am going to work for them too. We live next to a UP track and i see trains all the time. My layout is all UP. I might be the biggest UP fan there is. Beside hoople me and him are the same. So to answer your queston i am a UP nut.

im just a plain nut as well as a up nut.im only a mile from the up mainline here in atchison.saturday i saw a consist of nine up loco’s pulling a freight train and heading out west or up north.it was stopped at the signal.what a sight and sound when it started up and pulled away.they were all six axle loco’s.terry…

SP fan here, but mostly a train fan overall.

I live and work in the Riverside/San Bernardino area and grew up near the Colton yard(then SP). I have conflicting feelings about UP. When growing up in the '80’s I could watch the yard operate without any problems but now I here UP runs people off the overpassess so they cannot trainwatch at all. On the other hand they have been maintaining Cajon Pass very nicely, with well groomed track and a work group with a sidding to work from out in the middle of nowhere. It didn’t take the UP long to figure out why the SP ran 7-8 units per train up the pass as they now do the same or even better thay are running two sections up the grade. I know SP had a poor maintainance record and breakdowns were often but the grade is rough on any loco.

They have also built a new inclosed facility in the yard, looks like it is primarily for locos.

Ha sanyone noticed that the UP hardly allows any cars to sit in the west yard anymore. The SP would have that yard at least half full at any given time, but the UP runs through the hump just as fast as they can. Also, have you noticed a caboose at or near the wye along the 10 freeway near Cherry ave? I have also seen a caboose in the Riverside/Carona area on the south/eats side of the 91/15 freeway interchange.

An m-10000 you say? that would be $500 plus shipping, give or take a few dollars.

I expect your dad is buying it? I can’t see an 11 yr.old having that kind of money to lay out for a train.

“Union pacific fans”… Are those the things they use to keep UP loco engines cool? [%-)]

i am funding it myself my dad has o gauge and has a m-10000 from lionel. I buy all my trains by myself. don’t feel bad cause a 11 year old can get a m-10000 and you can’t.

Why does everyone keep bringing up my old fourm name and that a am 11?

I know that on the UP that BIGGER is better but have any of you heard of the DDDDP45 which has 4 trucks and each truck has 4 axels so thats 32 axels which means 64 wheels

I got some pictures here, but other pics from the same site looked photo shoped

I have seen a DD40x and those are huge, but a DDDDP45 thats to big, I dont really belive this photo but anything can be posible.

Joe

i should probably leave this one alone or risk getting in trouble. all i will say is that jon168 you just insulted all of the minority that models railroads. i buy my trains too, and the next loco im gonna get happens to be a $250 4-6-6-4 challenger. and the dd40x is a monster too

HOO BOY did that make me laugh! Not at you or anything, it was just funny.

Must be selling off your TYCO collection to buy the M-10000 huh
