Campbell trestle bridge

Has anyone used the Campbell #303 HO trestle bridge. I’m trying to get the correct dimensions but everywhere I go they seem to be different, even on the Campbell website. Campbell says it’s 70 or 75 scale feet long depending where you look, 15 3/4 inches long and I have no info on how high it is.

It’s a curved trestle and I want to form it to 22" radius. My layout height where I want to use the bridge will be 4" so I’m trying to find a trestle that will fill the bill but I can’t seem to find the height on this bridge.

I know it’s not that high but I wanted to use a trestle just because they’re eyecatching and I’m using truss bridges and such in other places on the layout.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Talus

Hi

When pre-made doesn’t work - you can do what the real RR’s do - build your own. You have a general idea of how the trestle is constructed as you can look at Campbell’s plans for theirs. There are probably many designs in MR or on this site that you can gleam ideas from.

Have fun!

TTalus,

Why don’t you buy the bridge you want and when you construct it shorten the piles or timbers to suit your needs and height requirements. You have to build it anyway. As far as I recall they are all kits anyway and you will have all the materiel you need. Just my thoughts, I have done a few over the years.

Thanks Frank,

That’s probably the route I’ll take although I’m still looking for a 4 or 5" trestle but no luck.

Anyway, modifying it should be fun. Thanks again for the input.

Cheers back at ya,

Talus
