Can anyone help me get my engine out of the local park?

Yeah sad to say had to retire my Williams B6 scale 0-6-0 switcher… she runs great but just like the old days when you get out moded they send you to the park or muesem…I believe this on came out in the early 90’s. It has a flywheel and can motor but no sound and no TMCC. Has somebody done the conversion? Which product did you use? ERR? Digital Dynamics? Any info well help me get this little gem back to the high rail I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks!

"She runs great.’ Gee, does everything have to have bells and whistles?[:)]

Sorry, mine’s all Post War; don’t know anything about this new stuff. I’m thinking of buying the freight station with diesel horn for some of my old silent runners.

Nice layout!!! I haven’t done a mod like this but try trainamerica studios website. They have awesome sounds and smoke units and I know they work off of TMCC too.

This loco is a good example of a Williams Berk modified with TAS’s smoke unit, TMCC and sound. I want to do this with my Williams Hudson.

I like the fence you built around her, but how do you keep vandals off the rest of the engine?

Get in touch with BUCKEYE RIVETER, he has done this in ERR, I believe? Check this out…

Unless something has changed recently TAS doesn’t deal direct with hobbiest. Your best bet is to go to the Electric Railroad or Digital Dynamics website to see what they have to offer. The biggest challange may be in fitting the electronics and speaker into the tender.

I don’t know about getting the engine upgraded, but I like your layout.

Have you truly considered the cost of such a restoration…? We’re talking between 250-500k off the top of me head. Crown sheet replacement. Steam tube inspection and replacement. Let’s not even speak right now about the EPA looking over your shoulders constantly on the asbestos removal. Then, is it safe to assume that the Class 1 would even give you the time of day to put a temporary spur to release your captive. If not, how are you gonna get the crane in to hoist it onto a flatbed?

And, at the end of the day, will you be able to find/pay the insurance (one of the biggest reasons these ventures die off) costs?

Good luck to ya.

Thanks, she has a slueth smoke unit, burnt my hand on it when I picked it up for the first time… outch! I have never heard of these guys but I will investigate…

yeah, I ran out of fence… seems I can remember where I found this scrap metal, but it was at some building site…vandals? Not on my railroad!

I will investigate ERR, and digital dynamics, just wondered if there was an article out there on TMCC conversion I could refer too…

Here are my current diesels TMCC that rule the layout for now until I can upgrade or afford some steam locos
