Can anyone tell me

Ive notice several times that when I first log-in to Trains.com web site a box is visable that informs you of “Whose On Line.” It then goes on to state how many are on-line, and their names, out of the total membership, which is over 33K.

I never see my own name there. Can someone tell me just what this “Whose on-line” thing means?

Just curious.

I never paid a whole lot of attention to it other than some passing glances; however, I don’t think it registers that you are there until after you have logged in and have browsed into a subject.

I’ve never had anything like that show up on my computer. Perhaps it has something to do with your browser, forum profile settings, or security software.

I’ve seen it and I ignore it. I believe it shows everybody on the Trains.com forums. Who really cares who is actively on line anyway?

I am not sure if i have seen it and ignored it as Jack says or i haven’t seen it at all but in any case as Jack says who cares.

I really should say that who cares because the information is of no value. This is not a chat room, it is a digital bulletin board- you post what you got to say then check back later. A chat room is live and there it is important to see who is online so you can chat with them directly.

Sheesh, I ‘m starting to sound old and crabby lately. Better go play with my trains for a while

Is that old & crabby, the result of living in a house full of females, or both?

That means you’re not really. It’s all in your imagination.

Yes it is a worry when you can recognise your own shortcomins or even imagined ones.

First the forum is like a old party line on your telephone. people would like to know who they are talking to. or a board meeting. Who is there.

Second you do not see your own Name plate at the meeting, why because you know who you are. Everyone elso does not.

Your question sounds like that old Joke. I need to look at my drivers license to make sure Who I am.
