Can I get a motor for Thomas the Tank engine

A piece of the commutator fell off my grandson’s HO Thomas the Tank engine, can you buy relacement motors instead of the whole engine? It is several years old so no warranty. We were running it on DC on a DCC system. He was being so good I let it run for about an hour and a half straight. It has been run lots before but not that long at one time. It is a Bachman.

Thanks for any help.

Contact Bachmann. If you can repair it yourself with the parts, they will probably sell you one at a reasonable price. Or, they may quote a price for them to do the replacement.

Or, if there’s an LHS in your area that does repairs, bring it to them. Chances are they might even have the parts you need right there.

Bachmann has a very good replacement policy.

Here are the Bachmann forums.

There is a Thomas & Friends forum.

If your grandson’s Thomas is out of warranty, contact them on their website, tell them the problem and they will advise you of the best way to proceed.

Generally, they, Bachmann have the best guarantee in the business. You can probably get your Thomas replaced for $10.00 or $15.00. I my experience, their customer service is pretty fast too.

Good luck with your Thomas. He started my grandson in Model Railroading and still lives on the BRVRR.

Thank you for the suggestions. There is only one hobby shop here and they don’t do repairs. I will try and get ahold of Bachman. This sounds pretty good. I live in Canada and I"m not sure if it is a different site.

For the time and money, you might consider just buying a new Thomas.

It shouldn’t matter where you live in the world, you should be able to access any Web Site from anywhere. Thats why it’s called the World Wide Web. (WWW)

Blue Flamer.

I would like to report Thomas is alive and well!! Hurrray !!

I contacted Bachman from the number on one of the replies and they sent out a new motor for $10 plus $7.50 shipping and handling. It arrived today. Installed it and it runs great. My grandson will be happy, not to mention grampa.

Thanks for the help and a bouquet to Bachman for great service.
