Can i use a bachman transformer(DC) running only one train on atlas code 100 track?
thx in advance

Yes, rail size is not a factor. If the loco is dc and not dcc it will work.
The Bachmann transformer is all right for thatbut, you won’t have good speed control. If it me, I’d upgrade to and MRC, at least a tech 2. It has better speed control, won’t heat up like the Bachmann wil and is not really that expensive. Here’s a link where you can look at some MRC transformers.
i know i will use a zypher control later this is just for a start since im saving my money
Good choice.
ya i used to have old bachman the black one you used to get in every train set they used to over heat and some days they would work and other days they wouldnt. dumbest mistake i ever did was use em
Short answer - yes.
Longer answer - the Bachmann train controller (transformer-rectifier with speed control) can handle one DC loco with a modern can motor and lights. An older open-frame motor, or a multi-powered-unit lashup, will probably overload it.
As for power distribution, if the train slows noticeably as distance from the power feed to the track increases, more feeders are needed. Code 100 rail with electrically sound joints won’t suffer a significant voltage drop under 99% of all modeling conditions, so you can probably disregard it. (The original question implies something other than a gymnasium-size layout.)
