Can someone help me with an intership project?

I’m posting this from my Advanced Computer Applications classroom at the moment. There is a chance that I may be able to intership with the local Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, or even CSX. So I am real excited about it. I have the information I need on HRM, but I’m having problems finding what I need on CSX.

My teacher said that it would be in my best interest to have a map of CSX in the local area, so I’ve been looking, but have not found anything decent.

-Does anyone have, or know where I can see, a map of CSX trackage within Hagerstown, Maryland? Or maybe even the entire Washington County, Maryland trackage?

-What subdivision is Hagerstown included in? Is it the Cumberland sub? Anyone have a map of the specific subdivision?

Anything would be helpful at the moment.

Mapquest, DeLorme, Rand McNally or any other online mapping software will show all the major trackage if you enlarge it enough.

There is a map salespersons, realtors and truckers use for most metropolitan areas that are very detailed so they can find individual street addresses. The maps are in a booklet form with a spiral binder and would give all the rail lines in the county. I think you can find these in truck stops. I don’t think they are cheap but they will help with railfanning in metropolitan areas as well.

The recent series of RR atlases (done by region) is pretty good at giving the heritage of a line. Seems like the one I have (the northeast) goes back to the pre-PC era on most routes. They’re advertised in all the railfan mags, but the name escapes me.

G’day, Y’all,
You might call the Maryland DOT for county maps. These would show roads, but should show all the railroads, too. If these are like the ones I got from Ky when I was trying to sell Bibles in the country near Lexington, they are better maps than anything else you’ll find.
