Can you identify this Covered Hopper?

What is the roadname of this covered hopper? Can you figure out some numbers of the this type of covered hopper for me so I can decal a hopper?

Thanks

As far as I can make out the roadname of the hopper is ICC, there’s no roadnumber visible in the photo.

Hope this helps you,
Ian

It looks like an Illinois Central Gulf (ICG) hopper. Where was the photo taken??

It was taken in Ishpeming, Michigan (in the upper peninsula).

My wife is from Ishpeming. My father in law works at the Tilden Mine. I would love to settle down up there. I have spent quite a bit of time up there.

I live in Marquette, MI. They hopper is carrying some sort of powdered explosives for the plant and then for use at the mines. I don’t konw if that helps you or not.

Kinda off topic, I remember the first time I visited up there I was taking a shower and all of a sudden everything started to shudder and I heard a low rumble. I about fell in the shower and came running out. My wife laughed and calmly explained that they were blasting at the mine. I couldn’t believe how powerful those blasts are!! I love going out to the Tilden. The sheer size of everything is amazing.

I am positive that is an ex ICG hopper. Numbers and new data are impossible to extrapolate from that pic.

What would be a good number for it then?

You don’t think you can track her down again?? I would say that is your best bet. The original ICG numbers and data should be easy enough to find, but the data for the new owner may present a problem unless you can get up close. I will look for some more prototype pics of those hoppers.

This ought to get you started.

I wasn’t the one who took the picture. Many different cars pass throught to the plant. I have seen pictures of BNSF and atsf and others which I can not figure out by the picture. That might help because you could figure where these cars are coming from.
Thanks

They even have the correct decals for that car on that site, so I thought that was pretty cool. If I was searching for stuff like that for myself, I wouldn’t have been that lucky.[;)]

Actually, the locomotive is more interesting than the car. That’s an oldie.

Looks like a 1, huh?

You mean like an SW-1? That is because it is one. It was built in 1940 something I think.

That is what I meant. I was just being a little lazy with the keystrokes. Who does it belong to??

Vreeland Rail, Inc. It is a little railroad that has less that 5 miles of track and has one engine. It services A&L Metal which is a scrap metal yard and Ireco Pepin which is an explosive Plant that makes explosives for the Empire and Tilden Mine.
