Can you identify this kit

I built this a few years ago and now I need another one. It is the only box I did not save. I don’t remember either the manufacterer or the name. If you know what it is or where I can get one, THANKS

Just to show the picture:

Is it a plastic or wood kit?

Plastic

The kit is a Walthers Cornerstone…Midstate Marble Products.

Right on, Doughless. The kit includes the building, the overhead crane and the jib crane.

Mike.

I just checked Walthers. The Mid-States Marble is sold out and discountinued. Item # 933-3073.

They have a building that looks the same, item # 933-2847, called Spooner Sash & Door, and I think one is out of stock right now.

I guess you’ll have to watch Ebay, and check with different hobby shops on line.

Mike.

Might be able to kitbash one from an old Revell enginehouse kit or one of the variations. I think one was a bakery and a couple of others. Same basic shape

If we are talking kitbashed approximations, don’t ignore a couple items in the Model Power structure line (which is otherwise all too easy to ignore) such as their Dual Locomotive Shed, their similar Foundry, or Locomotive Maintenance building.

That, or start haunting the swap meets. From time to time I hear rumors that there are guys who buy kits and never build them. [amended post: I intended that last sentence to drip with sarcasm, and a degree of self shame [:$] ]

Clearly there are many people who do this, otherwise where do all these kits on ebay come from, years after they’ve been retired, still sealed in the box, unbuilt.

I’ve been looking for an O.L King & Sons Coal, one on eBay right now, otherwise tough to find, I guess I need to get back to some train shows.

Try the Allentown Spring Thaw in February, I’ve found lots of old stuff there over the past couple of years.

Plus, it’s only $7 to get in and I think people from the Reading RR historical society have a booth there.

Eric

I know we have a booth there [:D]

I stopped going to that one a couple of years ago, it’s WAY too much tinplate now. Same with the Hamburg show.

I WAS thinking about finally making the trek to Springfield this year, but I’m not sure.

Too much tinplate? I guess I don’t get out much [;)]

There is a lot though, which cuts down on my browsing time.

Springfield looks very enticing, but that would be an overnight trip from SE Pa.

My wife can understand a morning or even a day, but a weekend …

Eric

Art, great to see you back on the Forums. Apparently you’ve been busy “actually” working on your layout rather than gabbing about it here like so many of us! Looks really great. Lots of the “pink stuff” now actally covered.

Actally kitbashing wouldn’t be a bad idea to add to the existing quarry or stoneworks.

This is one instance that an older kitbashed structure was relocated and reworked for the new quarry
