Can you tour Beech Grove shops?

Four railfans stopped me this morning and asked me if it’s possible to wrangle a tour of the Beech Grove Amtrak shops. I doubt it is, but before I tell 'em so, has anyone been able to take such a tour? They’re going to Indy in August.
They asked me this because I told them that my dearly departed dad once got me a tour of the shops when it was a NYC facility. I vividly remmeber they had a lot of steam engine parts in the inventory building even though the NYC had been all-diesel for some time.

I doubt it very much as an individual. I toured it several years ago as part of a tour by the Society for Industrial Archeology. No steam parts visible! Lots of dead F40s though.

Don’t know if they will do it for individuals. However, David Gunn has been very gracious and authorized NYCSHS to tour the Rennsalaer facility in 2003 & 2005 and Beech Grove in 2004 as part of their conventions.

Suspect he would do the same for a similar organization.

A little off topic but we at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum are currently storing an Amtrak OLD sleeper entitled " Beech Grove".

I rode Beech Grove once on Amtrak. At the time I was able to identify which railroad it came from, but now I forget. Do you know? My guess is it was PRR.

I am not sure, I will have to find out.
