Canada studying cuts, sale of VIA routes

Autos are private transportation. Many need public, such as those who have better things to do en route than hold a steering wheel and try to stay awake. There also are the young, the infirm, those without a decent car, and a growing number of elderly.

Gordon Bates wrote: “at their present 120 m.p.h. . . .” Do any VIA trains run that fast anywhere on the Quebec–Windsor routes? If they do, are they equipped with cab signal or automatic train stop as are Amtrak trains run over 79 m.p.h.?
Why does not the U.S. change its foolish 79 m.p.h. rule?
