Canadian crude-by-rail exports set record
It’s about time TC considered rail, given the never-ending foot dragging and pandering here. More economical, more versatile, and out of the political arena. Three cheers!
Now my math may be fuzzy but rails 6% share of 2.6M bbl is 156000 bbl. Or roughly 190 carloads or 3 unit trains a day. Now why is Transport Canada crying about crude by rail soaking up rail capacity?
Don’t confuse the argument with facts!
Both the Toronto Star and the Reuters England carried reports on Enbridge Canada shutting down one of it’s natural gas pipelines to convert it to crude oil shipment instead. It will be up and running and will ship crude to the US Gulf ports so it will be shipped and sold on the World Market.
What percentage of the “export” oil is actually Canadian in origin? And how much is actually from the Bakken fields in North Dakota? Considering the mortal danger to which everyone trackside is exposed to by Bakken crude, if it’s moving to a US destination it should not be allowed to transit through Canada.
