What are your views on the past years and the Domination of the Canadian Class ones, CP and CN. If it means a better rail network I support it. But I also dont believe The Canadian National should be In New Orleans-IC take over.
It is unfortunate that the CN seems so anti-railfan. At least the CP sends us a steam locomotive to look at and chase now and then.

I have heard, through the University grapevine, that the top students in logistics are shying away from the CN. The feeling is you will only have a career if you are a Canadian. That is to the benifit on BNSF, NS, CSXT, KCS, UP, Rail America, G&W, etc.
Not really…they rarely higher here and they are so demanding on who gets in, it really isn’t worth it half the time. Better off trying to get in with CP; they seem to be more serious in improving their network. They often require track gangs for siding extensions and general labour like that. It is a start.
You don’t have to be a Canadian to work for CN. You do have to be willing to – and show you are willing to – work hard, work to rule, and really produce. But it’s a good outfit to work for, at least in my humble opinion.
Domination by CP and CN? I don’t think anyone who has really looked at who hauls what where would regard either one as a or the dominant carrier in the US! Not hardly, mate!
CN isn’t a Canadian RR, the majority of owners/shareholders are americans.
CP is the last true Canadian Class One.
Gordon Trafton has not seemed to have been impaired by his US citizenship and has come a long way from his days as a trainmaster in Edgemont, SD. His position at CN is far advanced from those days.
Hunter Harrison runs the company. He has a heavy drawl. I believe he is from Memphis or somewhere further south. I am sure CSX would pay a lot to get him.

We Canadian employees of the CNR would glady give him and the rest of his gang away for free.
Signal Mechanic. Signal Department. Canadian National Railways.
If CN had merged with BNSF (and moved headquarters to Montreal), I would call it Canadian domination.
Canadians wants that business of the Golf coast, So why not CSX or NS go for the west coast of Canada.
Huh?
Only way to do that would be to take over CN or CP, or build a new right-of-way through the rockies, and I certainly don’t think anyone would be building another right-of-way through the rockies. Ever. It would cost Billions.
