Canadian National sells Toronto area lines for GO Transit services

I have always found the raillines through the Toronto area fascinating with the blend of freight and passenger traffic. This is interesting because I would have thought that traffic through the Toronto region would be on the rebound and both the York and Halton Subdivisions, especially the latter, would be straining to capacity and the Oakville and Bala (south of Doncaster) would be needed to accomodate for this growing amount of traffic. As a result, CN would keep these lines for their own. Perhaps I am looking at this the wrong way and GO needs those subdivisions more so than CN. This is a very interesting sell off.

Perhaps Metrolinx may buy the CP Rail line up through the Don Valley for possible extension of GO service to Peterborough? Imagine watching GO trains running alongside the Don Valley Parkway during rush hour.
