Canadian Pacific Railway Holiday Train (In Winnipeg tonight)

Tonight the CPR Holiday Train will be making a stop in Winnipeg at around 21:30 Central time, near Munroe and Prevette. It is a charitable cause, and they collect food and cash donations for those who are less fortunate and opressed. I will be going there for sure, as i was last year. And entertainers on the Canadian Holiday Train include Canadian Blues rockers Wide Mouth Mason and Lisa Brokop, one of Canada’s finest vocalists. Last year Wayne Rostad and Amanda Stott and the Moffats were playing. I look forward to it, especially cause they have heavyweight coaches[^] Pulled by either an AC4400CW, a SD90MAC-H II, or an ES44AC, GEVO would be nice, but too bad they don’t use the Tuscan and Grey FP9’s.

I’m looking forward to this, I moved to Cottage Grove (Minnesota) this summer and the train makes a stop Tuesday in Cottage Grove on it’s way to St.Paul. I’m hoping the light will be ‘just right’ as it comes in around dusk - just light enough to see the train and photograph it, but dark enough to show off the lights on the train. [C):-)]

All i can say is, it was a blast. No ES44AC, SD90MAC-H II or Tuscan and Grey FP9’s. But like last year, an AC4400CW. Wide Mouth Mason and Lisa Brokop put on a magnificent show, and the protestant church across the street was handing out free hot chocolate, lol. I will throw some photos on once they are uploaded to my friend’s site.[;)]

No one does Christmas like Canada and Canadian Pacific Railway.[^]

I saw it last night, shot some video. Only thing missing was snow !!

The conductor may have been one of my friends, soon to be an engineer on CP.

At least in Winnipeg, we don’t usually have to worry about no snow. [swg]

Funny thing about that, when I was in Thunder Bay a couple summers back I got talking about winter and snow etc. with the owner of a local hobby shop. When they found out I was from Minneapolis / St.Paul she said “Oh well, you’re from down in the ‘snow belt’, you get a lot of snow down there!!” I assumed Canada was a good candidate for snow…sure snowed good the one Feb. trip I took to Winnepeg back in 1983 !!
