Canadian Pacific to move from downtown Calgary
Yes, the sun finally settling on the Empire, for those of us who remember when CP’s headquarters were in Windsor Station in Montreal.
This is a good move to save money. Many companies have moved their back office operations out of expensive leased downtown offices into properties that are owned ,or cheaper to lease, in suburban areas. The companies save lease cost and the empoyees are able to drive to work and park for free (or at lesser cost) and don’t have to take public transportation. There is no need for CPR to be downtown and this move seems to be a “win-win” for most people.
CN moved it’s office from an office tower in downtown Edmonton to a new multi-storey building at the Calder Yard - because they are exempt from City taxes there. Seems like CP is taking the similar path…in so many ways. Hunter effect.
