Canadian Pacific wins key intermodal contract

It’s funny how we become attached to both an actual, “in the iron” railroad, and a name. I grew up next to the old Milwaukee Road in Chicago, and lived by it in southern Indiana, then when I moved to La Crosse, WI…my old friend the Milwaukee Road was still within my view. I know the Canadian lines of the Canadian Pacific, to which this contract applies, were never part of the Milwaukee Road, but CP’s acquistion of “my old Milwaukee”, now makes me a CP fan. Good work “lttle guy”…show the “big guy” CN you can do it!

There is a sad story behind these headlines. Canadian Tire now imports the vast majority of its products from China rather than from Canada and the US. Thus the need to have all this container traffic. What goes teh other way? raw materaiuls such as coal and potash. Keeps the railways busy but who else?
