Canola is a very tricky product to ship. It may be a “grain” but to move it successfully it almost has to be handled as though it were a “perishable” product.
Uniformed people need to stop alleging "bellyaching. Publicly traded corporations can’t vote, farmer can. Who do you think politicians are going to pay attention to?
Living in Canada, in the prairies, I have seen first hand the fact that the grain was not moving very well this past winter. But other products certainly were! The 2 railways are the only way to move canadian grain west to port and they know it. So they don’t really care when they move it. It is guaranteed business for them. Unfortunately the grain can deterioate as a lot was harvested tough, so money is lost. There is a lot more to this story this winter with also grain elevaters to blame and cold weather also. I just wish we had double tracking like BNSF or UP!
WILL THEY EVER QUIT :"BELLYACHING "
OK, if the roads aren’t doing their best, then that’s bad. But I’m sympathetic to them given that record measurements of snow fall, record numbers of days with snow fall, I think there were record cold measurements in some places too.
They are bellyaching, I would say whining. Politicians are doing what they always do, pandering and demagoguing to whatever pressure group is whining the loudest, milking the issue no matter which side is right.
Will the now American-controlled “Canadian” roads ever honour their historic obligation to move the grain (all the grains) from the west to market?
