Can't access Yahoo Groups sites like Espee, RIo Grande & HOI

I’m a member of several Yahoo Groups email lists and today I tried going to the home three of them and could not log on or access controls.

When I get to the page, it looks like it is Espee or Rio Grande etc, but it appears as if I am no logged in, and I don’t see a place for me to log in. It states the membership is restricted and the controls are grayed out. Yet, at the upper right hand corner, it shows me logged into Yahoo Groups with my email address. Naturally I can’t post questions or converse with other members to find out whats going on. Is Yahoo Groups down this afternoon and evening?

Enquiring minds want to know.

I’m able to get in. You may know this, but yahoo reworked their groups about 2 months ago and they now have “neo” when look at the Internet address. Id say try signing out of yahoo completely and then try to sign back in.

If that doesnt work, give it some time or contact your groups’ admins. the redesign has been doing all sorts of wacky stuff from day1.

Gee, where have heard that before? Now website improvements and problems? Say it ain’t so.

You click on your name in the upper right to log in. Just because it has your name and not the Sign In that is usually says when you are not logged in, doesn’t mean you ARE logged in. Click your name, it will probably prompt you for a apssword. I’ve seen that on Yahoo for months now, but when I am definitely signed in, I have no problem getting to the groups I belong to.

Jim,

Not sure whether Neo works better with the red pill or the blue pill, but it’s working for me right now.

So they changed it two months ago but it finally decided to break just in the last day or two.

It’s wierd, it showed my name at the upper right as if I was logged in, but apparently I was not. That isn’t normal for most websites. If you are not logged in it will either not show you name or it clearly says you are logged out and gives you a box to type your PW. The change wasn’t very user friendly.

Clicking on my name didn’t offer a log in right away but I just kept trying things until I was able to get a log in. Then of course they want you to choose/edit name and location. I think it’s working now.

Thanks.

Well, that’s some small good news. The GUI on Neo is definitely not one of the good features, whatever they might be. There are folks saying horsewhipping is too good for those responsible…[|(][:(!][:-^]

I would agree. The early transition from analog gauges to “glass cockpits” in aircraft was as dangerous a time as I have ever seen.

The change to the Neo interface brought to you by the new Yahoo management is close to being as stupid as Microsoft’s ommission of the Start button in the Window’s 8 interface. Neo is being improved on a daily basis thanks to the thousands of complaints Yahoo got. When I first got Neo’d, the complaint page was locked. Then when the complaint page was finally unlocked, it crashed every time I tried to use it. After 2 weeks, I was finally able to get a complaint through. In response to my complaint, Yahoo’s Neo team kept sending me updates on everything they were fixing - except the items I had complained about. In fairness, after about 6 weeks, Neo has become reasonably functional with some features that the old interface did not have. And all my complaints have been addressed to some extent.

To the OP’s question/complaint, I did notice that I got dropped from several Yahoo groups just before the change-over started. The getting dropped had nothing to do with the group owners or mods - just another “benefit” of all the early bugs in Neo. Both the old and the Neo interface lock you out until you provide a

That happens all the time now. For me, it always works to log out, then log back in. The group page always shows my user name up in the top right hand corner. I click on my user name and it brings up a menu allowing me to log out. Once I log back in all my group memberships work again.
