Can't Remember

Awhile back I read a post about using Black Poster Board that was being used for roads. BUT, I can’t remenber what was used to make the lines for the lane markings. If you recall or have any suggestions, I’d appreciate it. As always, many thanks.

White art pencils, automotive pin striping, Woodland Scenics dry transfer stripe, paint pen, etc. Just have to watch the width, and stay away from picture perfect (or weather them).

Doc: Thanks.

At my LHS, but not in the train department, I found a supply of very thin white and yellow tape that is pretty darn good for the various dashed and single and double lines one sees on roads. In my case I was laying them on Walthers plastic street sections and because of the slightly rough weathered texture, and because the tape is glossy, I used matte medium to both tone down the gloss and seal the edges of the tape to encourage continued adhesion. After several years of many annual climate changes in the basement, the tape has stayed put.

Because the tape is very precise in width I happen to think it looks better than stripes or lines that are drawn or painted on.

Dave: Thanks for the advice.

Most welcome. Let us know what you decided with pictures of the results.

You can also create a stencil out of an index card to help keep your lines the proper width if you intend to draw or paint them.
