Buon Giorno!
I lived in Sicily for two years and rode some of these trains. You have a beautiful country.
Welcome.

Really? I was a NAS-SIG myself for three years. [tup] One of my best experiences on the Italian Train system was one trip north from Catania. It took us 3 hours to get from Catania to Messina (normally an hour, hour and a half) Why the delay? Well the crossing guards were on strike. Yup, you heard me right, the crossing guards were on strike, so the engineer had to stop at each road crossing, the conductor get out, lower the gates, and than they’d pull the train through, stop again, and pick up the conductor.
Sounds romantic, doesn’t it, like from another era. Funny thing was, this was 2000!
Cheers!
I was at Comiso AS from 1988-1990.
We took the train to Rome out of Catania for our 15th anniversary. It was a great trip.
Kind of neat how they broke the train apart, put it on the boat, then put it together again on the main land.

Hello, other Sicily did you visit other town of the centre or north.
I live in Biella(50.000 people about) , near Torino, and near our mountain, the Alpes .The Monte Bianco(white mountain) 4810 m. is 100 km from my house.
I think that my country, with is many problem, is still the country of hills, mountains, little towns, clear seaside, Florence, Venice, the five lands…yes beautiful.
Regards and thanks at all for your visit.

Sì, la mia famiglia proviene da Conegliano, vicino a Treviso.
We often took trains north to Rome, Milano, e San Remo. Mostly we traveled by car, trains were not that cheap.
I have not been to Biella, but I have spent a lot of time in Cortina.
Salute!
Unfortunately, I was only able to visit Rome and Naples on the main land. I visited several of the cities in Sicilia, however.
My wife and kids got to tour several other cities; Florence, Pompeii and some others I don’t remember. We always wanted to visit Vinice, but never got the chance.
We still have fond memories of Italy and Sicily even after all these years and would love to go back some day. AND ITALIAN FOOD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!!!

Truer words have never been spoken. Fortuantely, my lady was not only with me Siciliy, but 5 years in Naples as well, so she picked up more than a few things.
The best Italian resturant that I’ve found outside of Italy is our house!
Cheers
Now I know where to come to “relive the memory”

…Ma allora tu parli ancora l’italiano.
non farmi tribulare a risponderti in inglese.

[:)][:)]I am here again after a long absence. I want to quickly show you my new model railway. Varzallo Stazion
In November 2011 I started to build a new model railway layout, imagining to set it in a green and flat area with model trains of V-VI period (current). A hypothetical geographical location you can imagine is the north east Italy, where passing Italians, Austrians, Swiss and Germans convoyos. I gave the station the fancy name “Varzallo” charming village in an area with high tourist hotel, tennis courts, pond and hiking trails in the pine forest. Certainly no shortage of business activities in Varzallo , in fact we can see a big railway yard in three tracks with a refin
