Car Exchange 2010

I was not part of last years car exchange but I found it interesting to see the weekly photos of where the cars ended up on each others layouts and the crazy antics that came up. I am wondering if there will be on for this year and how I can participate in it. I think that it is a great way to bring people on this site together and make new friends.

I too would like to be part but was excluded last year as no acual layout. I would like to see it expanded to those that can atleast make a seenery to display the cars other than just a bare flooring or shelf.

OH, FIFEY…[:-^]

[(-D]

Fully intend on putting together a round TWO. Still have to write the article for round ONE. I’m targeting SEPTEMBER for a start up. Reason being, things seemed to wain a bit this past summer (hey, people have lives, right?).

So, get working on those layouts. [;)]

Will others be included or will it be the orginal members…I would love to be in it!

Hey Asch, I can meet you in Daytona for the car swap…[swg]

Fife - We have lives? How did I miss mine???

being that you seem to also be a firefighter, i would say a meeting at the hooters on international could be worked out!

A spledid idea…I think I could do that…!!

Let’s just say that everyone participating should be somewhat familiar with everyone else here. And YES, asch, you most certainly fit that bill. Operations like the car exhange depend on a certain comfort level.

If I participate again, could my car be routed around N.C. ? It made me a tad nervous. I didn’t sleep for several weeks as the rare and expensive “I Love Ohio” box car passed through Roseyville.

Seeing that rare car is even more valuable now with all those signatures especially the one from N.C. I wouldn’t send it again I would get another car as would be afraid to ship it without such high insurance from place to place I couldn’t see how you could expect all these fellow rail roaders to bear the added cost of insurance to ship your valuable car.

I’m trying to figure what car to send of mine as I also want all those valuable signatures on mine too. Especialy those from Ohio and N.C.

I have a wonderful woodsided Budweiser reefer from k-line that would look GREAT with a bunch of signatures on it! Lets start it soon!

I’d make sure a great car like that did not go through Columbus Ohizo. Death trap. [:-^]

No joke. If it is like the K-Lines I have [very detailed], I would not ship it around the country. Everyone is very good and careful. Just the constant packing would hurt it.

Not to mention the care that UPS and USPS handle their packages with. I learned NOT to take stuff to the UPS Store on Friday or Saturday. Always take stuff on Monday from now on.

Nothing like that…not a highly detailed car or anything. just one with a cool paint job that doesn’t see much run time on my layout and I thought this ould make it a cool display/ conversation piece!

i enjoyed the car exchange a lot last year. I’m would love to give it another try when we get around to it. It’s takes a bit of patience since everyone is so busy with their lives, but it’s a unique and rewarding thing to be involved in.

Wes - Yes, but only if you bring back the “dogbone!” [(-D]

I do miss the dogbone…
