Last Wednesday evening I was spending some time just sitting on the Cafe patio at the Fullerton AmTrak station. My wife and son joined me and we went to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory next to the tracks. We sat so that I could see the BNSF tracks just west of the station.
As we ate, the eastbound SW Chief came in from LA on time and sat for a while waiting for it’s time slot to come around. As it left at 7:45 PM the last car in the consist (after one or more of those pseudo-freight thingies) was some kind of restored old Observatiion car. Undoubtedly ir was one of those privately owned excursion cars. I could see the marking so I I have no other ID of it.
Anyone know exactly what it was?
