With the line have ‘capture’ rails at that point - it helps keep the engine on the rail at that point - I would expect if it were hauling 15 or 20 cars in empty conditions it might be a different story.
Those guardrails can only do so much. What’s incredible is that It looks like they’ve left it existing like that for a pretty long time and not tried to correct it. Reminds me of the way highway potholes get treated. They paint a white circle around it.
Be thankful that we have some kind of oversight for railroad construction in developed countries.
