This is typical of our transportation policy. The competition’s highway to the coast is repaired no problem. The railroad lays idle for almost two years because of no repairs. Granted, the railroad is privately owned but surely 1.5 million can be found to reopen 93 miles of rail serving numerous communities.

Actually, local government and the railroad’s customers have been trying to find funding/financing ever since Carolina Southern ceased operation. People in the area recognize the benefit of the railroad keeping heavy trucks off roads which swell with tourist traffic from may to august.
