Carr Street Station in St. Louis

I posted this to “Ask Trains” over a year ago, but it was never published.

A 1957 Official Guide lists one CB&Q train headed north from St. Louis through Illinois to Galesburg and the Quad Cities to connect with a train from Chicago at Savannah, IL bound for Minneapolis-St.Paul. As far as Savannah, it was a coaches only day train.

The other CB&Q St. Louis train left from Union Station through Missouri via Hannibal to Burlington, IA, where it was taken over by CRI&P to Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and Minneapolis-St.Paul.

As much as I research, I can find nothing about a Carr Street Station this sole train used. Can anyone shed light on this station, its function and history? I would be grateful.

The 9/57 Guide doesn’t mention Carr St-- Q must have started it soon after that.

It seems the Q’s Carr St Freight Sta extended south 800+ ft from Carr St to Franklin Ave, somewhere on the east side of Broadway. If you download the 1950s topo map from USGS maybe it will show just north of the Vet Mem bridge.

Maybe no way you can see it, but allegedly the sixth pic in this thread
