Casting Shadows

I left the light on in the room next to my layout in progress. Walked by and noticed the long shadows. The effect was stunning.

Has anyone tried low-angle lighting from the side? Very dramatic.

I have one of those articulated desk lamps that clamp to a table top next to the layout - it makes a neat effect when lighting the trains as they move by it. Huge shadows on the back wall.

Great plan, Doug. By articulated, I think you mean the lamps with the segmented arms. I got 3 from a thrift shop at $2 a piece to use for special effects.

Cool

Yes, David, I couldn’t think of the right word, it has an spring-connected angled joint that lets me twist and move the light all over the place. I have it clamped to a…it’s more of a storage chest actually next to the layout - I’ve moved it off to the corner just to light up a rather dark part of the layout (I only have two florescents bulbs (sp) over the layout space) but I’ve had more fun trying out odd effects like you noticed. Never thought of it liek that before though.
