cat out of the bag?

Just saw the ad in Model railroader for 2009 HO Walthers catalog, so is it safe to assume that the next “name train” from them will be the NYC’s “20th Century Limited”?

Went up $5…[V]

I’d say that the 20th Century Limited is a safe bet.

Also, Atlas showed their next HO diesel at the New England Railway Prototype Modelers’ meet this weekend. It’s an AlCo HH660 switcher.

I’m paying the exact same for mine this year as I did last yearand the year before thatand the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that…ok, I never get one…all I need is on a short list and my local hobby shop back in CT is waiting for my order. I kinda have to wonder why they take a year to get one entire train consist out and the next one is already known before the last one is done. Still better than selling summertime toys for Christmas and not in the summer(a jab at my former employers)

still $7 less then they used to be.

the 9.98 price was originally to just be only for the 75th anniv issue, keeping that price an extra year was a bonus, but like everthing else, skyrocketing energy costs are driving prices up.

Much as I don’t model the NYC, I’ll have to debate getting it.

Who are you debating and is Chris Matthews moderating?

Hope nobody cries that the questions aren’t fair…

That makes sense if that’s the cover.

I’ve wondered why Broadway Limited has not made the Broadway Limited. Any thoughts?

I dun get it

My favorite locomotive! Just look at my avatar…

Well, crumb! While I was pulling for an NYC or other Eastern road’s train, I was hoping for a heavyweight appropriately pulled by steam… I was also hoping they would wait a year. Having these back-to-back might prevent me from getting this one. I’m still trying to get caught up financially from the Empire Builders. Managed to squeek the Hiawatha into the budget. 20th Century might not be so lucky.

Oh great. Here I am, unemployed a year, hardcore NYC modeler, and now Walther’s does this. Hopefully these won’t have the same problem the Superliner cars had with the swaybacked shells. Now how can I convince my wife to let me spend the money?

I’ve always had good luck with begging. [:)]
