Caught Milw. Road 261 at Morton Grove IL today

I was in Morton Grove, IL along the tracks at lunch today before a 1 p.m. meeting eating a sandwich and the gates came down and in the distance above the trees I saw what seemed like a steam exhaust trail…well, it was #261 along with her string of matched Milwaukee Road Hiawatha cars (including round end observation car) with (now get ready to puke) Amtrak unit #51 pushing from the rear (likely as protection power). 261 was headed north from Chicago towards Milwaukee and I was really taken by surprise on this occasion (so much so I did not have even my cell phone with camera ready to snap a photo) as I had no idea she was operating down here…DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE SPECIAL OCCASSION FOR THIS RUN?

They were using the consist to film some scenes for a movie in CUS over the weekend.

It was running back to Minneapolis today from its movie filming role. It came in with 4 cars but left after picking up the Super Dome and the Cedar Rapids which were used on a special Amtrak train from Chicago to Milwaukee. The Amtrak yard was filled with vintage equipment over this past weekend.

By chance did you get some phots of that vintage equipment you can share with us?

[banghead][banghead] WHY Didnt I have my cameraaaaaaa !

Just went thru Milwaukee at 11:30 heading west.

Wonder where she spent the night?

If anyone finds out if it will be coming back on the UP line (old CNW line) through Hudson Wi, across the St.Croix river south of Bayport and Stillwater Minnesota please call my cell phone 651-210-2894. If you get voicemail leave a message. I would appreciate this greatly as I don’t get many chances to see steam engines operating.
