Let them strike. Then Canada will find out which parts of VIA are critical and which parts are fluff. Taking a guess, I would say the only parts that are critical are the trains which go to the parts of Canada where there are no other means of transportation besides snowmobile in winter.
As for that pension, why is it public sector people get massive pensions paid for by the provider class while the provider class in the private sector has to pay for their own retirement plan? At least in the US that is how it works.
Why do public sector workers scream so loud? Because they know they can never get a job in the private sector. Nobody is dumb enough to hire them unless unemployment is at almost zero and employers are getting desperate for workers. On top of it, those same workers would have to prove themselves to be at least as good as the private sector workers.
Jeffery, it appears you are misinformed on government pensions! They are not free. Public employees in Ohio have to pay 10% of gross income into their pension. Private industry employees only pay 7% into social security. Your comments are amusing to read considering they are full of misconceptions and uninformed opinions.
